Club nights are for dancing and socialising.

We do not normally organise public dances
but members actively support many others.

On 11th June 1919 at a meeting of the English Folk Dance Society, the Hull Branch began.
The formation proceeded with immediate effect after unanimous support and continues to the present day. The first social evening held on 3rd December 1919 had an attendance of around 200 people. In 1926 membership was 125.
In the early days the Branch being a much more formal structure than the Club we have today, as examinations and award of certificates were the norm.

At present we have over 50 members, with a relaxed, leisurely approach, ensuring all who join us are taking up a hobby they may enjoy for many years.

The Hull Folk Dance Club is now one of the oldest folk dance clubs in Yorkshire and we are now planning our centenary celebration event for 29 June 2019.

About ten years ago we stayed adjacent to Hull when we had to move to a more suitable venue, in England's largest village.

Hull Folk Dance Club is affiliated to English Folk Dance and Song Society.
